Product Care

WAX PRINT CARE

  • Separate African print fabric from other clothing to prevent stains
  • Hand wash in cool or warm water, making sure not to exceed 30 °C or 86 °F.
  • Use a mild detergent that is easy on coloured fabric. Like all household products, keep out of reach of children.
  • Turn off spin cycle on your washer
  • Hang clothes to dry in a shaded area (preferably) or dry on cool heat. Excessive heat fades out the fabric colour
  • Once dry, iron clothes inside out using medium heat

LEATHER CARE

  • Don’t keep your leather in plastic, either. Removing all air supply from the leather is bad for the material.
  • If you find that your leather is starting to dry out or crack, it may be time to moisturize the material by applying some leather conditioner/cream. When applying the cream, make sure you avoid the parts of the bag that are not made out of leather.
  • Avoid cleaning products with alcohol, turpentine or other mineral spirits, as they will discolour and dry out leather.
  • Add leather dressing intermittently. Even if you haven’t used your leather item for many years, don’t just keep it stored in a glass display case. You need to dress the leather periodically.

BAGS

  • Avoid placing your bag in direct sunlight
Handbags, among many other things, are susceptible to sun damage. Exposure to direct sunlight may change the colour, texture, and shape of your bag. Instead, keep it somewhere the sun can't reach, like a shelf or a cupboard. Most items retain their quality best in cool, dry environments.
  • Use only recommended products for cleaning your bag
Products designed for cleaning handbags preserve the fabric's condition. Avoid using any cleaning agent because it could be harsh on the material of your handbag.
  • Spills must be corrected immediately.
In the event that something does unintentionally spill on your bag, clean it up right away. Wipes are now widely available at shoe and handbag retailers and are an easy-to-use emergency remedy for minor spills.
  • Put makeup inside makeup bags.
Accidents involving foundation and powder in handbags are the worst, so if you absolutely must have some makeup with you, put it in a smaller makeup bag. Not only do these prevent accidental spills, but they also simplify the process of changing bags.
